This course is a simple foraging walk where we hope to be able to identify a selection of Spring shoots, edible plants and flowers, plus hopefully some lovely Spring wild mushrooms.
The course starts with a 20 minute introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes. We’ll then set off for the walk identifying plants and mushrooms. Along the way we will stop for some lovely home made wild food soup and possibly some other treats. After the walk we’ll prepare a light wild food lunch based on what we have foraged.
As with our other courses we will find some tasters on the day, but as a group we will not be picking to take anything home. We have permission from the Forestry Commission to pick a limited amount of plants and fungi on these courses, but they have requested that any mushroom picking is to be limited to while you are on the course. Please observe their voluntary ban on picking mushrooms at all other times that you are in the forest.
We will email all of you details of all the plants we find to help you remember what you have learnt.
Under 12 year olds can come for free, within reason; but please let us know how many will be coming in advance.
Drinks at the pub are not included.
There are limited spaces available so please book your ticket online.
