Details

CROFT COTTAGE is a pretty 16th Century thatched Grade II listed historic cottage, believed to be the oldest in the village. It is our family home and we offer one en-suite ground floor bedroom (sleeps 3) with its own garden and entrance. A full English cooked breakfast is served in the garden room overlooking the orchard. It is set in 2 acres of alpaca paddock and gardens, where THE LODGE (sleeps 6) our beautiful fully detached self contained oak lodge is situated (Please go to 'Croft Cottage The Lodge' in the self catering section to book the lodge). We are just a few minutes walk from the open forest and the facilities of Sandy Balls Holiday Village.

    “Quiet and quaint”

The cottage itself is fascinating, with a rich history and Bill knows/built a lot of it. The front room where breakfast is served is perfect, with views of a "wild" garden, and the pet alpacas are a nice touch. Staying near Sandy Balls is great as bike rental/food was always nearby.

If I had to be a pedant i'd say don't expect it to be as clean as a newly built hotel - it's very well maintained but is hundreds of years old. Some traffic could be heard, but I could count the number of cars I heard on one hand, and it is certainly much quieter than being next door.
