Details

Cottage Lodge is a charming five star B&B in the heart of the thriving New Forest village of Brockenhurst. The public parts of the building date back to 1650, and the bedrooms are of more modern construction. All rooms are en-suite and come with TV's, coffee and tea trays, in room safes, and interior sprung mattresses. There is parking at the front of the building, a cosy beamed Snug bar for residents use, and the Gillies Breakfast Room with individual tables where breakfast is served.

We pride ourselves on giving guests: a warm welcome; a clean and comfortable room; a good quality mattress; and a local breakfast cooked to order. Guests tell us they like the Cottage lodge because it is well located for eating (seven restaurants and three pubs within a ten minute walk), there is bike hire, it is only a few minutes walk to open forest (we provide a range of self-guided walks for you to enjoy the forest on foot or on bike), and about five minutes walk to the mainline railway station (far enough away that you don't hear the trains). The station has 100 stopping trains every day from across the country. So Brockenhurst is a great place to get to by train and also a wonderful base to explore the area.

Brockenhurst is one of the few villages in the New Forest where ponies, donkeys, cattle and pigs can wander freely. There is a small green opposite Cottage Lodge designed for the use of the houses across the road. In May and June, when the new foals arrive, guests often watch the sleeping foals with mother keeping a watchful eye nearby. From November to February it is possible to see pigs snuffling on the green. Any time of year you may see the naughty donkeys take over. Hampshire cattle (which look like highland cattle) are always hungry and put their heads over the fence looking for food. Last summer they pulled down a small tree - polishing it off between them. Guests watched in amazement from the cosy beamed Snug Bar and the Breakfast room. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and showing you our beautiful New Forest National Park.

For guests with no mobiliity we suggest Our Bench at Lymington where hoists and specialised equipment is available.
