Across the New Forest, from hotels to horse riding you can be a forest friendly visitor. The beautiful New Forest is the place to stay green! You can be environmentally conscious by choosing green accommodation, attractions, pubs and restaurants you can even save money doing so!

New Forest District Council and Green Leaf Tourism Scheme businesses have made a commitment to supporting Green Leaf Tourism Scheme. The criteria for the scheme are listed below

Car-Free Tourism
Accommodation establishments throughout the New Forest offer discounts to guests who leave their cars at home with the aim of reducing the traffic congestion and pollution caused by cars.

New Forest Marque Produce
Local businesses select local food that is fresh and in season, helping to support New Forest farmers and producers.

Energy Waste & Recycling
Businesses are committed to finding ways to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency and of course, recycling where ever possible.

Landscape Conservation
Businesses are helping to support local wildlife and increasing biodiversity by putting up bird and bat box and much more in partership with Hampshire and Isle Wight Trust and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Forest Friends - Visitor Stewardship
Business managers are visited by The Forestry Commissions Progress Project Staff so they can learn about the management of the forest, sensitive habitats and many other aspects of the forest. This knowledge is then passed on to the guest's visitors and staff.

Community Tourism  
Businesses participate in Local Community Tourism Groups or in local community based events to establish positive relationships between the tourism industry and the local community.

Helping out with the Green Leaf Tourism Scheme during your visit is quite literally a piece of cake! Buying local produce, getting out and about by bus, bike, boat, hoof or foot and by staying in one of the Green Leaf Tourism Scheme members hotels or B&B's , it's easy to stay Green just look out for the Green Leaf and you will be assured that the business is following the above criteria and you will be playing your part in preserving this fantastic environment!
