Travelling around The New Forest
Step outside the car and you'll smell and feel the beauty of The New Forest. You can arrive by train or coach. Once here there are plenty of opportunities to cycle walk and ride, making it easier for you to give your car a holiday too!
The New Forest Tour
Take an open top safari on the New Forest Tour – enjoy grandstand views of the New Forest National Park, wandering ponies, pretty villages and magical landscapes. Hop on and hop off wherever you like and catch the next Tour or switch between routes – all on the same ticket. Hear the stories of the people, places and animals of the New Forest from the on-board commentary - with characters, sounds and music that bring the forest to life.
The New Forest offers over 200km waymarked cycle routes, much of it off road and traffic free. The station at Brockenhurst allows you to bring your bikes and get straight out into the forest or if you don't have bikes with you pop in to one of the many cycle hire centres.
The train stations within the National Park are Ashurst, Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst and Sway. The other train stations in the New Forest are Hinton Admiral, Lymington, New Milton and Totton.

The New Forest is served by a public bus network, which provides the opportunity to travel around the area by bus.

The Forest Bus & Forest Bus Baby
From 24th May to 31st October 2015 the Forest Bus and Forest Bus Baby will be in operation.
The Forest Bus (a boosted Bluestar 6 service) runs hourly from Southampton to Lymington.
The Forest Bus Baby is a new weekend only service running from Hythe to Moors Valley Country Park stopping at Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, Burley and Ringwood.
Purchase a Forest Day Rider ticket from the driver (cash only) and it will allow you to ride all day:
- Adults £7.50
- Child £5
- Group (up to 5 people) £17
- Over 60s pass holders and under 5s ride free
- Forest Day Rider tickets are valid on Forest Bus, Forest Bus Baby and on the Beach Bus but not on the New Forest Tour
The Beach Bus
Ride the Beach Bus to discover the hidden gems of the coast and countryside this summer. The Beach Bus runs from Hythe Ferry to the Georgian market town of Lymington, stopping at popular attractions such as Lepe Country Park, Exbury Gardens, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and Buckler’s Hard. You can also enjoy great discounts with your ticket, including a free ice cream at Lepe.
