What’s New For 2014 In The New Forest


The New Forest is well known for its beautiful gardens, fun activities and its beautiful landscape; so why not see what’s new in the forest in 2014 to inspire your New Forest days out. With so much to do and see within the forest you will be spoil for choice; below are some highlights of what’s new In the New Forest in 2014.


Magical double-decker carousel at Paultons Park


Experience the Victorian fairground magic by visiting Paultons Park in 2014; travel back in time by taking a ride on the new double decker carousel. The carousel is one of only two double decker carousels in the UK and is a must see for any visitor to the forest.


In Easter visitors can look forward to the grand opening of a new waitress-service restaurant and a toy shop where you can purchase various gifts and memorabilia. Voted the country’s best theme park by UK parenting site; Paultons Park is the perfect idea for a day out in the forest.


Land Speed Record breakers at the National Motor Museum


Beaulieu National Motor Museum has created a dramatic new display for 2014 based around land speed record breaking vehicles. The new display features four iconic land speed record breakers such as Sir Malcolm Campbell’s infamous Blue Bird 350; the display also includes high definition imagery and archive film footage.


The National Motor Museum will also be launching a second display in 2014 which aims to incorporate motorcycles. The new motorcycle gallery will feature a range of iconic motorcycles which you can find on Britain’s roads today, it will also discuss the history around motorcycles.


New spring garden at Exbury


In March visitors to Exbury Gardens can look forward to seeing the grand opening of a beautiful new garden called the ‘Gilbury Lane Garden’. The new garden will feature beautiful camellias, showcasing over 200 named varieties from the Trehane Collection which was donated by Jennifer Trehane seven years ago. The Camellias have now grown to six feet and provide a beautiful splash of colour to welcome in the spring. The new garden will open on the 15th of March and marks the start of the season at Exbury, with plans to create a new children’s play area, Exbury is the place to be in 2014.


New cycle hub in Brockenhurst


A new cycle hub will be opening in 2014, which will help everyone who enjoys The New Forest cycle routes to make the most of the beautiful off road landscape. The hub will be close to the railway station in Brockenhurst and will offer a variety of useful information for cyclists looking to enjoy the national park. The hub will be a continental style workshop which encourages users to bring unwanted tools and cycle parts so that you and other forest users can fix their bikes easily within the forest.


Holiday park gets 50 new caravans and lodges with £1.5m investment


Shorefield Holidays is investing £1 million in its Oakdene Forest Park with more than 50 new caravans and lodges for visitors. The Oakdene park, set in 55 acres of landscaped gardens on the edge of the New Forest, is ideal for active families with more than 20 activities to choose from including archery, climbing, balanceability (for youngsters learning to ride a bike), sea scooters, snorkelling, zorbing and crossbow.


Historic inn restores former glory and doubles its size


The historic White Buck Inn, a former country house and home of the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment during WWII, is relaunching after doubling its accommodation to 16 rooms. The substantial luxury refurbishment has added stylish suites for romantic getaways and cosy boutique bedrooms for family breaks. The restoration has restored many of the inn’s original features, with reclaimed oak and stone flooring and an original fireplace.


An extended terrace now has room for an extra 30 guests and an outdoor wood burning pizza oven for summer lunches. The inn is also showcasing locally-sourced seasonal New Forest produce with its freshly prepared pub menu.
