Lymington Treasure Trail

Want to do something fun and healthy, whilst learning about Lymington and its history?

On this Lymington Treasure Trail you must find the hidden pirate treasure. After plundering many French ships and crossing the English Channel, Captain Tom Johnston sailed into Lymington. He believed that in order to keep control of his crew, they must always be drunk! On one occasion he shot one of his own men. Whilst burying the poor soul he decided to hide some loot too! Can you find the treasure?

This trail takes you around the town of Lymington which has a history of smugglers and pirates, as well as being famous for its salt marshes from the middle ages, now a haven for wildlife, especially birds. There is a street market on Saturdays which is well worth a visit, whilst completing your trail!

This is a gentle moderate walk, with one short stretch of cobbled lane. Because of this we unfortunately cannot recommend it for wheelchairs.

The trail is 2.5 miles long and should take you about 2.5 hours to solve.
