By road, take the B3055 (Brockenhurst to New Milton road) to the outskirts of Sway village. Turn as indicated by signpost towards Village Centre, where The Nurse's Cottage may be found close to local shops.

Cycle hire may be arranged through a number of local operators, the closest being Cyclexperience (Brookley Road, Brockenhurst, SO42 7RR Tel: 01590 624204 www.cyclex.co.uk), offering a huge selection of cycles, traffic free trails. Parking is available and the business is open seven days throughout the year.

Public transport serves the village well, with an hourly minimum stopping service provided by South West Trains on the main line from London Waterloo to Weymouth. Sway Station is only two minutes walk from The Nurse's Cottage and it is often quicker to travel by rail to such destinations as Winchester (40 minutes approx.), Southampton (24), Christchurch (14), Bournemouth (22) and Poole (35). Cross Country rail services provide an hourly link to Reading, Oxford, Coventry, Birmingham and further north and may be joined at Brockenhurst, one stop from Sway.

During Summer months (19 June to 12 September 2010), The New Forest Tour open top bus (www.thenewforesttour.info) calls at Brockenhurst Station hourly, then at Lymington, Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens and Lyndhurst. Passengers can hop on and off at will and catch another bus later on, all on the same daily ticket.

Bus services (Wilts & Dorset 120 and Cango C32/C33) run regularly to outlying villages to/from Lymington Bus Station, stopping one minutes walk from The Nurse's Cottage. Full details and timetables are available from Reception.

Air France, Aurigny, Flybe and ScotAirways are among the airlines flying to/from Southampton International Airport, which has one of the closest plane-to-train links of any European airport - just 99 steps to Southampton Parkway Station, where South West Trains and Cross Country trains call regularly throughout the day. Guests flying to/from London Gatwick Airport can reach The New Forest on direct Southern rail services to Southampton Central. From London Heathrow Airport, a RailLink coach service operates regularly to Woking, where South West Trains offer a fast service to Brockenhurst.

Access to/from the Isle of Wight is available on Wightlink ferries, which moor close by South West Trains' Lymington Pier Station, with trains running half-hourly to/from Brockenhurst.
