From London via M3 and M27:
Exit the M27 at junction 1 and take the B3079 signed to Fordingbridge. After nearly 2KM, in Brook, fork left on to the B3078 signed to Fordingbridge. After about 5KM, fork right on to the B3080 to Downton, follow that road for just over 7KM and you will come down the hill into Downton. After the single lane section of road controlled by traffic lights, turn left into Moot Lane. Alison Cottage is about three hundred metres along on the left hand side, opposite the entrance to the playing fields.
From Salisbury:
Take the A338 southwards, following signs to Bournemouth and Poole. After about 8KM at the traffic lights by the Bull pub turn left and drive up through Downton village for just over 1KM. After the Wooden Spoon, turn right into Moot Lane. Alison Cottage is about three hundred metres along on the left hand side, opposite the entrance to the playing fields.
By public transport:
Southwest Trains operate a regular service from London Waterloo to Salisbury. From there walk to Fisherton Street and take the no 45 Woodfalls bus to Downton which stops in Moot Lane. The last bus goes at about 5pm so you may prefer to take a taxi directly from the train station to Downton. Except during the rush hour, the journey should take about 15 minutes.
From Bournemouth the X3 will take you as far as the Bull pub.
