Helmsdale is a delightful, spacious 3-bedroom cottage sleeping 6 guests. Ample parking for 3 cars with front and rear cottage gardens.
Only a short walk from the village centre, with lovely forest walks directly opposite the cottage and New Forest Ponies roaming freely outside the front gate.
It is ideally situated in the picturesque chocolate box village of Burley, deep in the heart of the New Forest, with quaint tea rooms, 2 Pubs and various village shops, one of which being the well-known Burley Fudge shop.
Burley Wagon Rides can be taken from outside the Queens Head close by. Cycle routes and paths radiate out from the village past New Forest Ponies, Pigs and cows, into the forest. One route taking you past the village cricket pitch where you can regularly watch the local team play. The nearby cycle hire shop provides all you need to enjoy your family adventure days out in the forest. The well renowned New Forest Cider is produced just a short walk down the lane, with their shop and tea rooms being definitely worth a visit.
Should you want a locally sourced meal for the family, their are 2 Pubs in the village, The Burley Inn and The Queens Head, both within a 3-5 mins walk or The White Buck which is a 20 minutes’ walk through the forest from the cottage or 5 minutes by car. The market town of Ringwood with its many pubs and eateries is a short 10 min drive away. The New Forest is proud of it's strong tradition for local produce and you will find examples on many a menu there. Enjoy delicious classics at cosy country pubs, a variety of cuisines including traditional English fare, Italian, Thai, seafood specialities and French dishes at local restaurants, not forgetting traditional tea rooms.
Burley is a perfect location for exploring the beautiful New Forest. 15 mins by car will take you to fabulous quiet beaches.
Should you feel like something more adventurous, The New Forest Water Park is 9 miles away (18 mins by car) or 8 miles away you will find Go Ape at The Moors Valley Country Park.
The property is approached via a private cattle grid to stop roaming donkeys, ponies, cattle and pigs entering, into a long drive with parking space for 3 cars. Proceed through the front entrance and into the large dining room with an oak dining table and chairs seating 8 plus the stair access. From here you go through to a lovely country kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer plus kitchen table and chairs looking out over the back garden. A door from the kitchen will lead you into the new downstairs cloakroom and a back door leading out to the garden. In the lounge you can cosy up on the large comfy sofas, either in front of the 50” Smart TV or music system or take it easy reading a book by the French windows looking out to the enclosed garden. Here squirrels regularly come to visit together with a variety of birds. The garden with bicycle shed and patio is a perfect spot for catching the sun and enjoying a charcoal BBQ after a long day around the forest.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, on the right you will find the master bedroom with king-size bed, Smart TV, bedroom chair, with a travel cot available if required. Next door is another large bedroom with king-size bed, TV and full-size mirror. Both large bedrooms have double oak wardrobes and chest of drawers plus lovely forest outlooks. Across the landing you will find a smaller bedroom with fitted wardrobes and twin beds which can be converted to a super-king should it be desired and overlooks the back garden. Adjacent to this is the upstairs family bathroom with large bath, WC and large modern walk-in shower. Luxury bedding, bath towels and toiletries supplied.
