The Rufus House is not merely a guest house
Located in the heart of the New Forest National Park, this grand Victorian House in Lyndhurst was built in 1876 as a country residence. With its unique character and charm, you would find a relaxing space and time that are just for you.
With acres of exceptional woodland and open heaths as our front garden, easy access to all New Forest attractions, the Rufus House is an ideal TOURING BASE to explore the New Forest and surrounding areas of natural beauty all year around.
Clean and comfortable rooms are all en-suite with a TV, coffee and tea tray, a fridge and WiFi connections in the room. Start your day with award-winning breakfast cooked to order and served in our beautiful Breakfast Room with individual tables.
There are plenty of parking spaces, both front and rear of the property. Our lockable bicycle shed is located at the rear of the property.
The Rufus House is located around 9 miles from Southampton Centre and 10 miles to Fawley, it is an ideal base for Business Travellers and Southampton boat show attendants who are looking for a quiet and homely environment. Lyndhurst has been the capital of New Forest since the time of William the Conqueror. With easy access to Southampton and Fawley area, many business clients return on a regular bases.
We are very well located for great pubs, tea/coffee houses and popular restaurants, all walking distance from the house.
Walking, cycling, bird watching, horse riding, sailing, golf, archery, kayaking and canoeing; golf courses, equestrian centres, spa and swimming pools are all short distance from the Rufus House. Easy access to Exbury Garden and Beaulieu Estates via Beaulieu Road.
Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary and around the area is a great place to watch wild deer and explore forest walk. Whilst, Lime Wood hotel and its beautiful Herb House spa is within a walking distance from the Rufus House via Pondhead Inclosure.

The Rufus House offers its unique Mindfulness Retreat underpinned by Zen and Mindful Yoga practice, effective Stress Reduction Programme & Emotion Management Programme as well as CBT Anxiety Treatment in both English and Japanese languages.
It is a safe environment on your personal retreat to practice meditation, meditation with movements (mindful Prana Yoga), breathing exercises and participating CBT sessions, while staying this lovely house in the New Forest National Park, Hampshire.
During your stay you have full use of our lockable cycle store, yoga & meditation lounge, sun terrace and gardens.

From London, take M3 West, after Winchester follow M27 West. M27 Junction 2 follow signs for Beaulieu then A35 Lyndhurst. After leaving Ashurst village proceed for approximately 3 miles, Rufus House is situated on the right hand side of the road opposite open woodland.
Both Ashurst New Forest station and Brockenhurst station are well served by direct train services from London Waterloo (90 Minutes) www.nationalrail.co.uk
Bus services from Ashurst (A35) are limited in the evening and weekends. Taxis are available from Brockenhurst station.

* Your accommodation will be available to you from 4pm on the day of arrival; our check-in time is between 4pm and 7pm, unless otherwise arranged. We are normally closed between 12noon to 4pm.
Our check-out time is 10.30am. Subject to the room's availability, late check-out could be arranged. Until 11:30am, it is an additional cost of £10. Until 12:30pm the additional cost is £20.00. Please advise us on your arrival. We are happy to store bags for those traveling by train.
