Things to Do in Brockenhurst

The village of Brockenhurst makes an ideal base for the active visitor. Leave your car behind and arrive by train (there are regular services from London Waterloo, Southampton and Bournemouth) and explore all that the local area has to offer.

Cycle the trails leading from Brockenhurst

Brockenhurst is a great place to start your New Forest cycling adventure. If you haven’t got your own bike with you then you can hire one from Cyclexperience in the centre of the village. Not only can they recommend routes for you but their smartphone-guiding app offers directions to ensure that you don’t get lost on your travels!

Alternatively, why not embark on one of the local cycle routes such as the 7-mile South Taste Trail - combining cycling with some fantastic foodie stops along the way. A longer option, at 11 miles, is the circular Brock to Rhinefield cycling route which passes along the beautiful Rhinefield Ornamental Drive.

Take a walk in the forest

Whether you buy your own Ordnance Survey map and plan your own route or download one of our suggested walking routes, there are a wealth of footpaths and trails that are around Brockenhurst that will take you into the forest. See what wildlife you can discover on your travels and escape the hustle and bustle of modern day life.

For a short walk, Whitefield Moor makes a great choice. Alternatively, head to Blackwater car park on the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and enjoy one of the Blackwater routes. The Tall Trees Trail is particularly attractive and is waymarked.

Horse riding and other outdoor activities

If you fancy giving horse riding a go then there are two riding stables nearby to Brockenhurst; Brockenhurst Riding Stables and Ford Farm Stables.

Keen golfers will enjoy a round at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club.

Shopping in Brockenhurst

Although a small village, you will find several places here where you can pick up supplies or perhaps even a souvenir of your visit.
