Harvest Season

There is no better time of year to sample our incredible local food and drink in the New Forest than during Harvest Season.

Harvest Season is traditionally the time of year when nature’s bounty is gathered in and we give thanks at annual Harvest Festivals, which take place at church and school from late September and October. It’s also a time when local pubsrestaurants and cafes are particularly keen to include as much seasonal, local produce in their dishes as possible.

Eat more naturally during Harvest Season, with locally grown harvest produce from our farms and gardens, full of delicious crops. Head to local farm shops and greengrocers across the New Forest and pick out some delicious vegetables and fruit. Some great suggestions of farm shops to head to are Cat & Fiddle Farm ShopHockey’s Farm ShopSopley Farm Shop and Longdown Farm Shop

From potatoes and squash, to blackberries and garlic, there will be so much locally grown harvest produce to choose from, to take home and create your own delicious masterpieces from in the kitchen. Later in October, you can also buy pumpkins, to carve for Halloween, but to also use for soups, muffins, and other tasty seasonal treats.

At some of our farms, you can even go along and pick your own harvest produce from the farms - you can’t get much more local than choosing your produce direct from the farm!

Another fantastic place to get your hands on the best local produce during harvest season is at the weekly town and village markets in the New Forest, plus keep your eye out for regular local farmers markets too.

It’s not all about food to eat during harvest season, don’t forget to stop off at New Forest Cider in Burley, where they’ll be pressing their apples this season to create their famous cider. You can purchase bottles from their shop on site to try!

Try local harvest produce at some of our pubsrestaurants and cafes in the New Forest. A perfect place to do so is at The Pig in Brockenhurst, with their 25-mile menu.

Sample our fresh, local produce on a visit here to the New Forest. You will be surprised by just how many culinary treats you will find!
