Seafood

With 43 miles worth of coast in the New Forest, we’re the perfect place to visit for seafood lovers!

Local fishermen head out onto The Solent from Lymington, and nearby Mudeford, to catch fish and other seafood, in careful and low impact methods, ensuring top quality products! From cod, plaice, salmon, haddock, skate and dover sole, to lobsters and prawns, there’s so much fish and shellfish that is caught off the shores of the New Forest, that you can buy from local companies, fishmongers and shops across the New Forest, including New Forest Fish and Shellfish

In most restaurantspubs and cafes in the New Forest, you will find fish options across their menus, with many of them using locally caught fish. Using local fish makes these dishes even more delicious and enjoyable!

Each summer, the New Forest is home to one of the biggest and best seafood festivals in the UK, Lymington Seafood Festival! Taking place on 16, 17 and 18 July at Bath Road Park in Lymington, 2021 will be the Festival’s 5th year in a row. This little boutique festival showcases many stalls of delicious local producers and restaurants using locally caught fish to create tasty dishes, including fish cakes, prawn and chorizo paella, seafood grazing platters and loads more fishy treats - don’t worry, if you’re not a fish lover, there are plenty of options to suit all other tastes too. There’s also tonnes of entertainment and fun at Lymington Seafood Festival, including live music, street performers and chef cooking demos. Tickets are only £5!
