Pub Gardens

It’s well known that a favourite pastime for many of us is to spend the afternoon or evening relaxing in a pub garden, surrounded by friends and family, with a refreshing local drink in hand and filling ourselves up nicely with delicious pub classics… and there is no better place to enjoy a pub garden than in the New Forest!

We’re spoilt in the New Forest when it comes to pubs and inns. From traditional country pubs that were built centuries ago to the more modern pubs with beautifully decorated restaurants and bar areas, most of which also offer stunning gardens and terraces. Full of flowers, birds and a brilliant atmosphere, we’re incredibly lucky with our choice of glorious pub gardens in the New Forest.

From the double levelled grassy garden and open barn at The Trusty Servant, to the secluded garden at The New Forest Inn, where they hold brilliant festivals and entertainment, too. The gorgeous large garden at the back of the 17th century Waterloo Arms is lovely too.

In the spring and summer, soak up the sun and enjoy the fresh air of our pub gardens, order a refreshing drink to cool you down - try a local cider or a cocktail made with a local gin or other spirit - and browse through the wonderful menus at our pubs, full of mouth-watering dishes, including some tempting pub favourites!

Who’s to say we can’t enjoy our pub gardens in the autumn and winter too? Even if it’s cold and maybe a little rainy, many pubs offer sheltered areas and heating in their gardens - brilliant, too, for evenings all year round, when it can get a little nippy! Order a hot drink and even a scrumptious homemade pie with mash and gravy to warm you up.

So many of our pubs use local food to create their tasty dishes and also offer locally produced drinks, including ales, ciders, wines, spirits and even fruit juices and water - making your experience of a pub garden and the lovely pub grub you order even better!

Many of our wonderful restaurants and cafes have beautiful gardens, terraces and courtyards where you and dine and drink, too.
