There’s definitely a spring in our step as we slowly ease ourselves out of lockdown! So, let’s celebrate with a bang and support our pubs, restaurants and cafes with their beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces which are all able to re-open from 12 April. All of those that can provide outdoor eating experiences, have taken the time over lockdown to come up with fantastic new menus and make wonderful changes and adaptations to their outdoor spaces. Lots have new covered areas, beautiful flowers and new plantings added to improve the ambience and ensure everyone has the safest and best experience when they are welcomed back!
Also in April, of course, we have Easter! Although we still have to keep local, there is still a lot to celebrate. Have a look at our very topical featured local produce this month - tasty eggs, laid by wonderful free range hens who live here in the New Forest.
With local eggs and Easter in mind, our Local Produce Personality of the Month for April is the amazing Ben Jackson at Fluffetts Farm. Find out more about Ben and his amazing eggs here.
As well as visiting the outdoor areas of our places to eat and drink, another idyllic way to enjoy food and drink in the New Forest in April is by enjoying a picnic! Pack up a basket with your favourite foods, made by local producers, or purchase a stunning hamper, and head out into the New Forest. Choose your spot, and watch the spring wildlife of the New Forest come to life right in front of your eyes - there will be flowers blooming, new born free-roaming animals taking their first steps, trees glowing green and the sun shining above you - what is a more perfect way to spend a Spring afternoon? (Please note, until 12 April we are still advised by the Government to stay local and only residents should be out enjoying the New Forest)
Our Hospitality Personality of the Month for April is Michael Clitheroe, General Manager at Balmer Lawn Hotel.
