We are delighted to hear that The New Forest has ranked fifth in a survey of the most Instagrammed locations in the UK.

 Online travel specialists, TravelBird, compiled a list of the 470 most popular attractions around the world, based on the number of tags on the social media platform.

The New Forest was hashtagged an incredible 287,818 times in a list that ranked Big Ben as the top UK attraction, in terms of hashtags.

With the image-based application most popular among Millennial users, TravelBird sought to use the information to gain an understanding of how global travel destinations fare on social media.

The results provide an in-depth view of the best travel spots in the UK, with two attractions researched in every region of the UK. The inclusion of multiple regions ensured local gems were represented, as well as popular attractions within London. The same process was carried out in 10 other countries.

New Forest Destination Manager Anthony Climpson said: “It’s great to hear that all these UK visitors have so fallen in love with the New Forest that they’re sharing its visual majesty with their own networks. We’re busily sharing some of those great new forest images with our own connections across the world.”
