The New Forest is full of all sorts of fun & excitement and there are always loads of different events happening across the National Park to get everyone involved in the forest fun, especially in the Summer!

Of course, one of our biggest events of the year is the New Forest & Hampshire County Show! This years’ show is taking place Tuesday 24 July to Thursday 26 July for the 98th time. This popular Show includes all sorts of exciting activities to watch and take part in, including Tractor Tug of War, Hound Parade, Atkinson Stunt Display, the Grande Parade of Livestock and loads more! You won’t be stuck for finding something to eat with delicious local food to try and buy around the show, and good news for the shoppers attending the show, this year there will be over 600 amazing trade stands to browse, selling a wide variety of different products!

Other Country Fayres and Shows happening across the forest this Summer include Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show (20 July – 22 July), Lover Country Fayre (7 July) and Forest Fayre with Steam (18 August – 19 August). Keep an eye out on our What’s On page for more Country Shows being added as we go into the Summer.

Back for a 2nd year, after their amazingly successful 1st year, Lymington Seafood Festival. This fun-filled Festival consists of 2 days of celebrating food and drink of our rich cultural heritage and links to the sea. There will be over 70 food and drink stands to try some delicious food (and not all seafood related, for those who don’t like seafood), 2 demonstration kitchens, where you can learn and get some inspiration for recipes you can try for yourself at home and the live music stage! The dates of the Festival for 2018 are Saturday 11 August and Sunday 12 August.

Get involved with our biggest active event of the year with the New Forest Marathon. Whether you are taking part or just cheering on the participants, this event is a fantastic local event for everyone to enjoy. There are 6 different race options for this year, which are all multi-terrain courses offering some of the most scenic running experiences in the country. The Marathon is on 9 September, find out more information about the event and how to get involved here.

Staying along the lines of fitness, why don’t you explore the New Forest on the more mellow Walking Picnics? This Summer they are holding 4 events that will allow you to learn more about the New Forest whilst experiencing it for yourself on a lovely walk. Choose from Supper and Nightjar Walk (23 June), Summer Butterflies (21 July), A Musical Picnic (18 August) or Berries, Seeds and Fungi (8 September)!

Or, you can join in on New Forest Activities Ladies Only Paddles, an event they are holding for the majority of the Summer (13 June to 8 August)! On this Paddle you will get the chance to explore the beautiful Beaulieu River Nature Reserve and all of its surroundings for 2 hours, whilst getting expert guidance on Kayaking from one of their awesome female instructors. New Forest Activities are always holding loads of other amazing events for all ages (and even dogs!), so check them out here and get involved.

For some exciting family fun to end the Summer on a high, make sure you go to the New Forest Extravaganza in Lymington! This event is taking place on Saturday 1 September, 11am – 6pm. This amazing event includes all sorts of different things to see and do, including Le Cirque De France Santus Circus, Paws for Thought Dog Display, Live Acts throughout the day and loads of other activities, prize draws and food stalls to enjoy!

Nearer the start of the Summer is Fordingbridge Festival! With a day full of fun family activities, such as live music, face painting, arena events, vintage vehicles and loads more, you won’t want to miss out on this one! Fordingbridge Festival is on 21 July.

For all of you motor lovers, The National Motor Museum in Beaulieu and Sammy Miller both have some fantastic events lined up for the Summer ahead. Including Simply Land Rover and the popular Supercar Weekend at Beaulieu and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Massive Motorcycle Ride Out or how about their Harley Ride In?! To get the full New Forest experience, head to one of our local street Markets whilst you’re here to pick up local produce, gifts and crafts! Hythe, Lymington, Ringwood and New Milton all have weekly town markets.
