2020 has certainly been a challenging year for us all, and it looks like the beggining of 2021 is following suit, but we are hopeful for a better year later in 2021 and are anticipating lots of fun ways to enjoy the New Forest again.

Learn a new skill and keep fit in the process

Stand Up Paddle Boarding was the most taken up water sport in 2020 and is set to continue to be popular as more people take to exercising outdoors. The New Forest Paddle Sport Company offers all levels of paddle boarding from tasters, BSUPA Lessons, hires and experiences. Their popular 1-hour kayak and paddle board taster sessions will be back for £25 per person with dates released in February 2021 for booking for later in the year.

For experienced paddle boarders, they are offering (on limited dates) a guided day trip paddle boarding from Keyhaven along the coast to Lymington and back again all with experienced instructors and a rescue boat.

Or enjoy a remote escape to the sea discovering Hurst Castle, a magnificent artillery fortress. Built by Henry VIII at the seaward end of a coastal spit it commands the narrow entrance to the Solent.  With fantastic views of the Isle of Wight from the top of the Tudor keep and plenty of open spaces for children to explore it’s a great day out for the whole family.

Family moments to look forward to in 2021

2021 is the year to return to the great outdoors. Spend time with your family at New Forest Activities with their Canoe Easter Egg Hunts. Enjoy a fun-filled Easter paddle along the Beaulieu River and hunt for Easter Eggs along the way!

The Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park is trotting ahead with plans to enhance the attraction for 2021 despite the challenges of 2020. Taking into consideration the Government’s advice to encourage outdoor exercise and recreation 'Project GENERATION' is now in full swing. Inspired by the Scottish Kelpies, two giant timber framed horse head walkways will feature in the adventure playground at the award-winning farm park. The Park will continue to offer a fun and educational experience for children.

National Motor Museum in Beaulieu and Paultons Park always have a fantastic line up of events each year, so make sure you keep your eye out for when details of these events are released.

Key dates for your diary

Some of our most popular events are set to return in 2021 including the New Forest Show, Dogstival and our New Forest Wedding Showcases with many more events set to be added to the calendar.

On the weekend of 5-6 June, Dogstival will be back at the glorious Burley Park. The festival includes main arena displays, a Dog House Behaviour stage, K9 aqua sports and ‘have a go’ areas including flyball, agility, gun dog village, scent training and canicross. The festival also features a shopping area, delicious local food and drink, live music, Pupuccino bar and much more!

From 16-18 July, Lymington Seafood Festival will be heading back to Bath Road Park. The full programme of events is still to be announced but in previous years has included cookery demonstrations, music and a relaxed atmosphere and lots of opportunities to sample the local seafood.

Running for three days from 27-29 July, the New Forest Show brings with it a busy timetable of events such as show jumping, a Heavy horse musical, agricultural and forestry displays, food and drink and a whole host of shopping opportunities! We’d strongly recommend booking your accommodation in advance as it’s a very busy time in the New Forest calendar.

Keep an eye on our what’s on listings as more events will be added to our website as the weeks go by in 2021.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the New Forest soon!
