With the longest day of the year fast approaching, it’s time to embrace the summer months and take your next adventure to the New Forest.

We’ve a whole heap of things for you to do in June, from art exhibitions to water sports! Take a read on as we show you more…

Love your motors?

There are some exciting car meets returning to National Motor Museum Beaulieu in June including Porsche, VW, Hot Rod and Jaguar meets. Come along and see your favourite makes and models and chat to some fellow car enthusiasts. Ticket prices include entry to the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House and the World of Top Gear.

If motorbikes are more your thing then pop along to the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum on 27 June for their Honda bikes meet. There will be free entry to the show. Admission charges apply for visiting the museum.

Dogstival returns

Burley Park is set to host the return of Dogstival over the weekend of 5-6 June. This is a top event for all dog owners with dog-related stalls, arena displays, ‘have-a-go’ areas and a dog behaviour stage.

For the human visitors, there’s music and plenty of food and drink stalls to enjoy. Why not combine a trip to Dogstival with some of our dog-friendly accommodation and make a weekend of it?

Learn about nature

The New Forest is a fantastic place to learn all about nature. Come for a visit in June and you’ll find our ponds a hive of activities with dragonflies and damselflies darting around, look out for the young New Forest pony foals out and about on the heathland and see if you can spot some of our native reptiles whilst on your walks.

At the New Forest Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst, you can find out all about metamorphosis in their photography exhibition that runs until 13 June. And then, from 19 June, a new exhibition on Ancient and Remarkable Trees of the New Forest will open.

From 19 June, children and families can enjoy some of Britain's finest wildlife when touring natural history exhibition company Blue Tokay bring their fantastic exhibition WILD to St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery in Lymington for the first time. There will be an array of animals on display, some familiar and some less so.

The return of indoor dining!

From 17 May, pubs, restaurants and cafes are allowed to reopen their indoor areas for dining once again. So, why not book at spot at a wonderful New Forest eatery and sample some of our local fare?

That being said, we still have some amazing places that you can eat outdoors too with pub gardens overlooking the open forest, seaside haunts and much more. Or book onto a unique dining experience in the New Forest with Ritual Feast, with banquets in secret locations in the New Forest on selected dates in June (and July & August too). Discover more by checking out our food and drink pages.

Soak up the culture

Until 12 June, St Barbe Art Gallery and Museum will be hosting an Open Exhibition. A chance to view artworks by artists from across Hampshire and Dorset and a highlight on the local calendar.

Running from 19 June into August, Beaulieu will be running a Sculpture exhibition featuring a collection of works by over 55 sculptors. Ranging from figurative to abstract, and covering a diverse range of mediums, the exhibition provides something to suit all tastes. Sculptors include Dawn Rowland, Frederic Chevarin and Neil Wilkin and will be on display at locations around Beaulieu Abbey and the gardens and grounds surrounding Palace House.

Calling the adventurous among you…

The summer is a great time to take to the water and even more so with those longer days. Fancy giving kayaking or canoeing a try? Look out for the paddling tours being run by New Forest Activities. The sunset tours on 2 and 18 June are sure to be a hit so make sure you book your place early. Or perhaps you want to tackle the inflatable obstacle course or give wakeboarding a try at the New Forest Water Park?

Explore our cycle paths and off-road routes, whether you bring your own bike or hire one from one of the forest’s cycle hire shops or book a horse-riding session with one of our local riding centres. You’ll find plenty of adventures await you here in the forest.
