Pick your special Halloween outfit, carve your pumpkin and get set for a spooktacular Halloween here in the New Forest! We’ve some fantastic ideas for all the family to get involved in lots of spooky fun, creating memories for years to come.

Pick your perfect pumpkin!

Nothing says Halloween better than a pumpkin! Find your perfect pumpkin to carve at Pumpkin Time at Sunnyfields Farm. Take photos with all sizes and colours of pumpkins and squashes before selecting your favourites to purchase and create into your own designs. Plus, if you fancy heading out once it’s dark, you can visit up to 9pm and spot the pumpkins amongst the twinkling lights. Sunnyfields’ Pumpkin Time event runs from 2-31 October.

Pumpkin Picking Patch will be opening in Fordingbridge from 9 October. It will include pick your own pumpkins and a Halloween Maize Maze. Please note, pre-booking for the Maize Maze is required.

Look out for pumpkins also on sale at Sopley Farm, as well as at some of our farm shops dotted around the forest.

Thrilling and chilling Halloween events

Get your spook on with some of the exciting events being held at some of our New Forest attractions.

Paultons Park, the UK’s number one family theme park as awarded by Tripadvisor, would love you to join them for their Happy Halloween event, running from 14 October-1 November.

Tornado Springs, the park’s brand-new world of attractions, will have a ghostly makeover. Families can enjoy new rides such as, Stormchaser and The Cyclonator in the spooky atmosphere created for the occasion.

Paultons Park’s exclusive show, The Legend of Paultons Manor, will make a grand return this year. The show includes singing, laughter and the spooktacular tale of Pickles the Pumpkin and the Spirit Squad.

Peppa Pig World, also on-site at Paultons Park, will be transformed into a Halloween theme and thousands of pumpkins and hay bales will decorate the park as a whole. Look out for late night openings until 7.30pm on Tuesday 26 and Thursday 28 October!

Exbury Gardens’ miniature railway will take on a spooky makeover for Halloween as the Ghost Train returns for October half term. Ride it if you dare! The ghoulish gang are back to share some frightful fun. Spooky characters will be haunting the tracks with a creepily comedic performance for passengers brave enough to ride the rails through Exbury’s wicked woodlands.

Longdown Activity Farm will also undergo a spooky transformation for Halloween. Enter the Haunted Barn at your peril from 23-31 October.

Howl with laughter at some Halloween-themed comic capers with Crazy M on 25-28 October and encounter real-life barn owls and creepy creatures with the Creature Teachers on Halloween itself.

The Pumpkin Quest promises to be fun for all the family – everyone will enjoy spotting the mischievous orange faces around the farm as they discover each naughty pumpkin in unexpected places. (No prizes, just spookily good fun). Entry to Longdown’s Halloween events will be by pre-booked online tickets only.

Try your hand at some spooky activities

Here in the New Forest, we love outdoor adventures so why not combine these with some outdoor Halloween fun?

New Forest Activities are really getting into the spirit this Halloween, with their themed 'Spooky Halloween River Tours' at nightfall. Your family will learn all about the village's eerie past in an illuminated canoe, or join their 'Canoe Halloween Candy Hunt' in the day and hunt for sweet treats on the Beaulieu River.

Or, if you fancy something away from the water then opt for a spooky shoot-out by doing some 'Halloween Archery Pumpkin Shooting' with your targets changing from a bullseye to something a little more squishy!

As well as this, Wild New Forest will be running a Halloween Wildlife Adventure guided walks on 30-31 October from Beachern Wood Car Park, Brockenhurst. The walks will take you through ancient woodland and an eery, dead forest and will help you identify spooky fungi and ancient trees whilst hearing myths and forest folklore. You’ll also have the chance to listen out for wildlife such as owls and foxes as night falls.

If you fancy getting away for a while for some Halloween fun, then check out the month-long fang-tastic fun taking place at Sandy Balls Holiday Village. Activities on offer will include pumpkin carving, broomstick making, spooky cheerleading, gooey slime workshops and lots more.
