Sunday 27 March is Mother’s Day here in the UK. If you are looking to treat your mum on this special day, then the New Forest is an enchanting place to visit and take mum to.

Whether you are planning on visiting just for the day, or perhaps making a break of it, there’s lots of choice for what to do or places to take mum to spoil her rotten.

Dine in style in the New Forest

Enjoy a relaxing lunch together at one of the New Forest’s pubs or restaurants, many of which will be offering special menus for the day.

Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel in Lymington is holding a lunch in their Waterford Restaurant with two courses for £27.95pp or three Courses £33.95pp. Guests booking will also receive two complimentary spa day passes per booking, to use the same or a different day. Pre-booking is required.

Give mum a toast at The Old Mill at Gordleton, with their extensive cocktail menu. Posh Peach Bellini anyone? The restaurant will also be serving up breakfast or Sunday roasts.

Or why not book the ultimate in tasty treats, an afternoon tea for two? Chat away whilst indulging in finger sandwiches, scones, cakes and a pot of tea. We have several tea rooms located across the New Forest including Hockeys Farm, who are offering a delicious Mother’s Day afternoon tea from £15.50pp, or how about the luxurious surroundings of the Chewton Glen Hotel. Pre-booking is required.

Plan a day out to remember

Here in the New Forest, the big outdoors is a big part of what we offer. So, why not make the most of it and book an outdoor activity that both you and mum can do?

Cyclexperience (based in Brockenhurst railway station car park) is offering free bike hire for any mum when booked in a family group. Cycle along the many trails nearby and take in the wonderful surroundings of our National Park.

New Forest Activities are making use of the beautiful Beaulieu River this Mother's Day to run their Mother's Day Paddles. Treat Mum to a scenic paddle along the river and a glass of bubbly - because she deserves it!

Take a wander through our gardens

For a relaxing day out, look to visit some of the New Forest’s gardensExbury Gardens offers extensive grounds to explore with a river walk, large ponds and lakes and thousands of spring bulbs. There’s also the smaller Furzey Gardens, near Minstead and the gardens and grounds which surround Beaulieu Abbey and Palace House.

If your mum also loves to garden, then be sure to check out the various garden centres found here too.

Buy a gift from the New Forest

For something a little different, why not buy a gift from one of our artisan or farm shops? New Forest Shortbread is a great place to start – offering delicious, homemade shortbread in an array of different flavours. For more sweet treats, pop along to Burley Fudge Shop and pick from their seasonal flavours.

Perhaps a hamper filled with goodies from The Forest Foodie will tick all the boxes, or you could opt for a locally made bottle of New Forest drink, including wine or cider.

Treat mum to a break away

Why not give your mum the ultimate in relaxation by booking a New Forest spa break? We have several spa hotels here which have options for a variety of treatments.

Or look into last-minute breaks at some of our holiday cottages, where you can get mum to relax and let you do the cooking.

Keep an eye on any last-minute offers on late availability on our website and enjoy your special time with mum.
