10.00am to 12.00pm

Plan, measure, accurately cut and sew chosen shapes to produce patchwork items. Develop hand or machine stitching to quilt your project.

Describe the importance of planning, recording ideas & measuring
Calculate the amount of fabric required for your project and cost this out
Measure and cut fabric accurately, using inches and/or cm (being able to convert between the 2)
Accurately cut and machine sew triangular shapes template
If working on own project accurately cut and machine sew chosen shapes
Press seams correctly and safely to minimise fabric bulk
Develop hand and machine quilting skills based on previous experience
Correctly use new patchwork and quilting terminology
Use digital equipment to record your project progress
Use recommended websites to gain inspiration for further projects

Who is this course for: This course is for complete beginners to the craft of patchwork and quilting. You will learn how to cut fabric shapes accurately, produce your own designs and sew "blocks" which can be pieced together
