Dog Friendly Accommodation

If your pet is well and truly part of your family then it’s only right that you’ll want to bring them on holiday with you and the New Forest is a great place to take your dog on holiday.

The New Forest is a dog-walker’s paradise, with ample footpaths, a stunning coastline and many pet-friendly places to visit. You will even find many a pub or café more than happy to let you four-legged friend in whilst you sit back and relax.

Dog-friendly hotels and inns

There are over twenty dog-friendly hotels in The New Forest. These hotels range in price and facilities from luxury country house hotels with extensive surroundings through to country inns and townhouses with a more relaxed, informal setting.

Dogs can stay in the Classic and Deluxe rooms, as well as the Garden and Burley Suites of Burley Manor, where furry friends will find their own dog mat, a welcome bag of delicious healthy snacks and treats and special bowls to eat and drink from.

At Balmer Lawn Hotel, dog-friendly rooms are available in the standard, superior and family categories. There are also pet-friendly dining options in the hotel’s lounge, bar and terrace.

Relax in the beautiful surroundings of The Master Builder’s Hotel at Buckler’s Hard, awarded ‘Dog Friendly Hotel of the Year’ in 2016 by the Good Hotel Guide. Dogs even get their own dog room service menu!

Rest up at Cottage Lodge Hotel in Brockenhurst and you will find many dog walks close by, there are even several dog-friendly pubs within a short distance of the hotel.

B&Bs where you can bring your dog

We’ve a handful of our B&Bs here in The New Forest that are happy to welcome dogs (and their owners!) into their homes. The majority of these B&Bs are in Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst, with a couple near Fordingbridge and Lymington respectively. Ask the B&B owners for their top dog walks, we’re sure they’ll be more than obliging. Here are some of the B&Bs you can stay with your dog:

Seraya B&B in Brockenhurst, is a family-run, dog-friendly B&B set in an attractive garden and The Rowans in Lymington welcomes dogs by prior arrangement. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed at The Far Side B&B in Boldre and you can bring your dog (and even your horse!) on a stay at Pinecroft, also in Boldre.

Dog-friendly cottages

With over twenty five self-catering cottages and lodges in The New Forest that accept pets, there is plenty of choice available if you are looking for a self-catering break with your dog. You’ll find cottages happy to host your pet throughout the Forest, providing you with endless opportunities for your daily dog walks and many with secure gardens to. There’s even a cottage facing right onto the beach!

New Forest Cottages offers a portfolio of over 100 cottages to hire, many of which are dog friendly.

Dogs can stay in one of the four converted barn cottages at West Park Farm, near Fordingbridge or at Windmill Cottage in Milford-on-sea.

Dogs receive their own welcome hamper (as do their owners) upon staying at Pittefaux Cottage, in the grounds of the Careys Manor Hotel and SenSpa. There’s also a handy laundry room in the cottage, perfect for drying off a wet dog!

Book a stay right in the heart of one of the New Forest’s inclosures at Wilf’s Cabin, near Burley and take one of the many walks on offer with your dog on a stay at Rhubarb Cottage in Lyndhurst.

Campsites

If you fancy pitching your tent and camping with your dog then choose from a selection of camping and caravanning sites dotted in and around the New Forest National Park.

Pitch up at one of the many “Camping in the Forest” sites found in the New Forest including: Hollands Wood (Brockenhurst), Ocknell Campsite (near Cadnam), Longbeech Campsite (Cadnam), Matley Wood Campsite (near Lyndhurst), Aldridge Hill Campsite (Brockenhurst), Roundhill Campsite (also Brockenhurst), Setthorns Campsite (New Milton) and Holmsley Camping Site (Bransgore).

There’s no need for a designated dog-walking area at Red Shoot Camping Park as the site has direct access to the forest, with all the walking you could wish for! If your pooch gets muddy there is even access to a hose to help rinse them off as well as various doggy treats on offer for sale in the campsite’s shop.

In Landford, Green Hill Farm Caravan and Camping Park allows dogs to stay, provided they are on a lead when out and about in the park. There’s also a dog wash area, perfect for cleaning off your pooch after a long walk in the forest.

Holiday Parks

We have plenty of fantastic Holiday Parks that welcome dogs to come and stay with their owners across the whole of the New Forest! Surrounded by the wonderful woodland, bringing your dog camping with you makes for the perfect break with your best friend.

Dogs can stay in the different types of accommodation on offer at Sandy Balls Holiday Village, near Fordingbridge and at Hoburne Bashley at New Milton. There are also pet-friendly options at Shorefield Country Park at Milford-on-Sea.

Before booking your pet-friendly accommodation

We recommend that you check with the individual property as to the exact facilities they have to offer you and your pet. Some properties will allow pets within the bedroom whereas others will have designated areas for pets to sleep or will ask you to bring your pet’s bedding with you. There may also be extra charges for bringing your dog.
