Strawberries

Strawberries are grown all over the world, but the strawberries grown in the New Forest are particularly juicy, bright and delicious!

Typically grown between June and early October, Strawberries are one of the most popular fruits of all. Whether it’s eating them straight from the punnet, creating desserts or jams from them, or adding them into juices, smoothies and milkshakes, there is so much you can do with this tasty fruit!

Strawberry picking is a fantastic thing to do with your family and friends if you’re in the New Forest during strawberry harvesting season - lots of our local farms welcome visitors come pick up an empty punnet and walk along the rows of colourful strawberries, picking out the biggest, ripest strawberries to pop into the punnet and take home to enjoy. Cat & Fiddle Farm and Sopley Farm are both brilliant locations for this!

Lots of other local farm shops and greengrocers also sell punnets full of locally grown strawberries that have been handpicked by the farmers, including Hockey’s Farm Shop

Our local strawberries are also used to make fruity desserts at local restaurantspubs and cafes and can be found as a sweet treat in summer afternoon teas. You can also find lots of delicious locally produced strawberry jams that have been made in the New Forest, using local strawberries. Our local strawberries are also a fantastic addition to picnics in the New Forest.
