New Forest Camping and Caravan Sites

Camping and caravanning in the New Forest is ideal for relaxing and for feeling close to the wonderful great outdoors, with most having direct access to the open forest and woodlands. Camping and caravanning brings you closer to our amazing wildlife and our beautiful scenery. It gives you opportunities to explore new places, experience nature, learn something new and to simply enjoy the laid back feeling of the New Forest National Park, where ponies roam freely and there are lots of opportunities to soak up the fresh air.

Reasons why you should go camping in the New Forest

The New Forest is a great destination for anyone who enjoys the chilled out feeling of being outside, and with ample footpaths, thrilling activities, fascinating wildlife and nature and amazing off-road cycleways, it’s easy to see why many people choose to have a holiday here.

Camping is the perfect break for families, and they are more than welcome here in the New Forest, with many of our campsites being geared up for younger visitors with fantastic play parks and other activities.

Camping and caravanning are also great ways to stay for couples and single travellers too! Whether you’re looking for an active break in the forest or some time to relax and rejuvenate, camping is a fantastic choice of accommodation for everyone.

Where can I camp?

There are a number of different campsites in the New Forest where you can stay. Whether you are looking for an intimate campsite with a secluded woodland setting or a campsite with all the modern conveniences, there is an excellent variety on offer here.

A top place to start is by looking at the wonderful campsites that are run by Camping New Forest. This great local company looks after 10 rural campsites in the New Forest, which are dotted around the National Park. Some sites offer more basic stays, and some have electric pitches, showers, play areas and even take away options. Their campsites include Aldridge Hill, Ashurst, Denny Wood, Hollands Wood, Holmsley, Longbeech, Matley Wood, Ocknell, Roundhill and Setthorns.

Some of our smaller campsites include Red Shoot Camping Park, which is in the perfect location for walking! Red Shoot have their own local shop and a lovely pub just a couple of steps away. Another one of our smaller campsites is Harrow Wood Farm Caravan Park. Located on the outskirts of a quiet village called Bransgore, where you can find some lovely pubs and local shops.

Camp within the forest or down by the lake at Avon Tyrrell Campsite, between Bransgore and Burley. A gorgeous, unspoilt campsite, offering a peaceful break in a natural environment. 

Another ideally located campsite is Long Meadow Campsite, which is surrounded by acres of forest, but still with quick enough access to Brockenhurst. Long Meadow offer spacious hardstanding and pitches, with or without electric. 

As well as wonderful glamping pods, Back of Beyond Touring Park is a beautiful 30 acre haven, with lakes, woodland and heathland, it makes for a great place to unwind and listen to the sounds of nature.

One of Shorefield Holiday’s sites also welcome touring and camping, Lytton Lawn. If you’re looking for a coastal camping trip then this is the perfect place for you, being located near to their holiday park, Shorefield Country Park, in Milford on Sea.

For enjoying stunning views of sunrise and sunset across the coast, pitch your tent at Calshot Campsite, located on Calshot Spit.

You can also expect to see some beautiful displays of stars at night with many of our campsites being in secluded spots that are away from light pollution. You may even have the odd New Forest pony or other animals roaming close by to where you are sleeping!

Did you know that some of our campsites are also dog friendly, so the whole family can come and enjoy a camping trip to the New Forest.

Please note that camping in the wild and overnight parking is not allowed in the New Forest National Park.
