Autumn has well and truly arrived in the New Forest, and here at Hockey’s we’ve got a packed calendar full of delicious treats, seasonal experiences, and festive fun. From our free-roaming pannage pigs, to a ghoulishly great Halloween half term, and right through to Christmas sparkle - we’ve squashed a lot into this season, and we can’t wait to welcome you along.
Pannage 2025 - A Taste of Tradition
September 15th marked the start of pannage in the New Forest, a centuries old tradition you’ll only find here. Our pigs are out roaming the forest, snuffling up acorns and chestnuts, and in turn producing the most incredible meat. The natural diet gives pannage pork a rich, nutty, earthy flavour that is unlike anything else you’ll find at supermarkets.
It’s a seasonal delicacy that’s well worth the wait, and the good news is our pannage order book is already open. Because nature sets the pace, we’ll give you a call when your pork is ready - the pigs need to be just right before we bring them home. A Spook-tacular Half Term
October half term is creeping up fast, and we’ve brewed up a menu that’s frightfully good. Expect spiced pumpkin lattes to warm your hands, hearty squash soups to chase away the autumn chill, and plenty more ghoulishly great treats in the cafe.
It’s the perfect excuse to gather the family, wander through the New Forest’s autumn colours, and end the day with something delicious at Hockey’s. Whether you’re fuelling up for a day out, or just fancy indulging in a seasonal favourite, our Halloween specials are not to be missed.
Counting Down to Christmas
As soon as the pumpkins are cleared away, our thoughts turn to Christmas and this year promises to be extra magical. From October, The Vinery will be brimming with festive goodies, decorations, and gift inspiration for everyone on your list.
Our annual Christmas Shopping Evening is set for Thursday 4th December, from 4-8pm, and it’s shaping up to be our biggest yet. Expect handpicked suppliers, craft stalls, and plenty of festive cheer, the perfect way to kick off the season.
