Chilly mornings, shorter days, and falling leaves, Autumn has officially arrived. But while cosy jumpers, and hot chocolate might be on the horizon, the cooler climate often doesn’t bode well for our skin. The colder weather can take its toll, and many people suffer from dry, cracked skin during the colder months.

We have been speaking to the therapists at Hoburne Bashley's Beauty h spa and treatment rooms, and they have shared a few skincare tips that are not only easy but can be rather enjoyable. Here are some essential autumn beauty tips to see you and your skin through the change in seasons.

Exfoliate
A lot of people think that exfoliation can aggravate dryness – but, it’s the best way to treat dry, flaky skin. To save your skin from becoming dull and dehydrated during the autumn months, up your exfoliation to twice a week. Exfoliating regularly removes dead skin cells that can hinder the absorption of any moisturisers or serums.

Moisturise
Having a super-moisturising facial product really is one of the most important autumn beauty tips. Those hot summer days have caused serious dehydration, and if you have dry skin already, you really need to hydrate it to stop getting flaky skin. We recommend opting for a cream specifically designed to prevent moisture loss. For those with oily skin, applying a heavy cream can feel a little too much, but you can still benefit from additional moisturising come autumn.

Enrich your lips
With the cold, dry autumn season, the presence of chapped lips tends to increase. Your lips don’t have oil glands, so they're almost always exposed to the elements. Exposure to the sun, wind, cold, and dry air can contribute to chapped lips, so investing in the right lip balm is key. For the best results, reach for a lip product that contains natural waxes, butters, and oils to protect, nourish and repair damaged lips.

Help your hands
Our hands regularly get overlooked despite being frequently exposed to the elements, and we often neglect them when it comes to skincare. Because the skin on your hands doesn't produce as much natural oil as the rest of your body, this area is much more prone to dryness, especially in colder weather. Make sure to invest in a rich, buttery hand cream, and you’ll reap the benefits.
